Coastform's "Touch-for-Assistance" units can help to provide a solution for those who have to offer additional faculties in order to comply with the Disabilities Discrimination Act. The design renders the unit "vandal-proof".
Coastform’s electronic touch plates are low cost, touch sensitive switch units designed for use with access control systems, and are an ideal replacement for conventional push buttons, door release buttons, call switches, etc. The entire faceplate is sensitive, not just a small central area, and the lightest of touches will activate the unit, making it perfect for fast and easy egress, and a boon for the elderly and disabled too!
Using ‘fit and forget’ technology, these touch plates are fully self-calibrating, for life, and have absolutely no moving push-button parts. The faceplate is brushed stainless steel and available in window mount and 1 gang flush and surface wall mount.
They are a low cost proximity-sensing switch designed to be attached to the inside of a window and to allow disabled persons to either call for assistance or operate an automatic door opener. It is sensitive to work through both single and double glazing and operates when a person touches the other side of the glass. In a simple arrangement, the switch output could be connected to a conventional door bell so that a person outside the premises can ring the bell and call for assistance of a member of staff to open the door. Alternatively the switch could operate an automatic door opener.
