Gatekeeping

Gatekeeping is where a member of staff visually checks someone's identity before granting them access. Typically this would be set up as follows:

  1. Assign readers to the manually controlled door(s).
  2. Select those readers from the first step and select p Ignore monitor filter settings.
  3. Optionally assign PhotoIDs to users (recommended).
  4. Do not assign users to manually controlled door(s).
  5. At the gatekeeping station log in to Access Manager as the gatekeeper, and in the Monitor view turn off all view filters.
  6. When someone swipes a tag at a reader at the manually controlled door(s), the user's details will be displayed, and the door_unlock.gif (910 bytes) button on the communications toolbar will flash briefly and remain enabled for one minute. During this time the button can be clicked (or Door...Unlock selected from the menu) to grant access to the tag user.
