Access Manager offers various views of its database. Each may be selected from the View menu, or using the appropriate buttons on the toolbar. The controls available to you will depend on which view you have selected.
There are two view modes (selected from the View menu, or using the appropriate buttons). In Combined View Mode, Access Manager will display both the database and any network activity at the same time. Otherwise it will display only the selected view.
A view may consist of two or more panes. A pane is similar in concept to a pane of glass in a window. In such a view the panes will be divided by splitter bars in the same way that the panes of glass in a window are divided by glazing bars. Unlike glazing bars, splitter bars may be moved around by clicking and dragging them, allowing you to resize the panes.
The database filename is shown at the top in the title bar. Below this are the menu and (optionally) the toolbar respectively. The toolbar may be hidden or shown by selecting
from the menu.To use the search tool on the toolbar, simply type in the description (eg user name, door name) of the item you want, and it will be selected in the left-hand pane. For further ocurrences keep pressing the button to the right of where you typed the description.

Access Manager is a live database application. In addition to an indefinite number of logged-in users, both the hardware and the database engine itself make changes to the database as a part of normal operation. Since other changes may have been made to the database since the last change made by you, it's not always possible to reverse that change. However, when undo is possible and is selected from the
menu, it will completely reverse the last change made, no matter how complicated its effect on the database. To maximise the chance of undo being available, it is recommended you go offline before making a complex series of changes. This is (optionally) right at the bottom of the main application window, and displays messages about the system operation. It may be hidden or shown by selecting
from the menu.At the far right-hand end of the status bar is the Hardware Descriptor. This will change as hardware is detected and goes online. Possible hardware descriptions are: |
Hardware | Description |
No Hardware | No recognised EasyOpen hardware is connected to the PC |
Standalone Door | This is a door controller which has previously been used without Open Access Manager |
Security Block | This is a door controller for which Open Access Manager doesn't have the relevant security information |
Door | This is a managed door controller, ie a single door controller connected to the PC via an RS232 serial cable |
Searching | Searching for networked door controllers. This will take some time if there are many undiscovered controllers on the network. |
Network | This is a network of door controllers |
