Users

User Class

There are up to three classes of user:

In addition:

By default Open Access Manager simplifies this arrangement to one Administrator (the only possible Operator) and Ordinary Users. All new users are set as Ordinary Users. To use the more complex arrangement you must first turn on the Advanced User Rights option. Then you can set each user's rights individually.

Authority Level

When the Timed Access option is turned on, you can set doors to be either unlocked or double-locked during timespans. An unlocked door is one that allows access to anyone. A double-locked door is one that blocks both unauthorised and authorised users. If the Advanced User Rights option is turned on, you can assign an authority level to all tag users and to doors. If a user has been assigned to a door and their authority level is greater than or equal to the door authority level, they can unlock a door that has been doubled-locked.

An example of where this might be used is for a door which controls access to a room which contains machinery that is dangerous at certain times, but at other times users must be permitted access. Clearly a service technician would need to have access at all times. To achieve this the door and the technician could be assigned an authority level of (say) 5, whilst all other users of that door would be assigned an authority level of less than 5. One or more timespans would then be assigned to the door to ensure that it is double-locked when the machinery is dangerous.
