Editing Readers

To edit the information associated with a reader:

  1. Select the reader in the tree pane.
  2.  !U!  Edit the information in the properties pane.

ID

The Display Name is used to uniquely identify the reader to you. Hint: When each reader is first detected it is given a name based on its serial number. To help you identify which reader is which, switch to the monitor view and present any tag at each reader, noting down the order in which you visited the readers. When you return the readers will be listed in the order in which you visited them, so you can now assign each a name that is meaningful to you. If the site is large, it is recommended that you break up this task into manageable sections to ensure your paper list and the displayed list of readers remains in sync.

Below the Display Name is the unique serial number for the reader. This is used when replacing readers using the     Replace...     button.

Delay and Duration

!U!  The delay sets the length of time the controller waits to unlock the door after the tag has been scanned, whilst the duration sets the length of time the door remains unlocked.

Valid values are 0 to 0.9s in 0.1s steps, and 1 - 240s in 1s steps.

Direction

!U!  Set the reader as being In, Out, or None. In means the tags are scanned on the the way into an area. Out means the tags are scanned on the the way out of an area. This allows the system to determine if a user is inside or outside area. This is used both for the roll-call feature and anti-passback control.

If anti-passback control is in use, use the p Prevent Passback check-box to enforce it at the door controlled by the reader.

Monitoring

Select p Ignore monitor filter settings to force Access Manager to display in the monitor view tag swipes at this reader even if View...Monitor Users has been deselected. This can be used to allow someone to monitor one or more key doors without being overwhelmed by messages of activity all around the site.
